I would actually recommend this for a 42R!
Absolutely stunning suit from Brooks's highest end line, Golden Fleece. Pretty slim and modern fit, but very light weight and wonderful for summer and fall. No shoulder padding at all, this is more like a shirt jacket than traditional tailoring, internal construction is very light, feels like one piece of canvas through the shoulder and chest and that's it. Unlined. The best part to me is the color, it's this wonderful dusty blue and the linen silk blend fabric has this slight peaching to it and it's just remarkable--very muted and subtle hue of blue that I really dig.
Two button, patch pocket. Can definitely dress this one up or down.
I purchased this suit new with tags earlier this summer, it was a hair slim for me and I managed to gain some summer weight (too hot to do anything), so I don't see myself wearing it again. The tag listed a price of $1,689, though I got it on sale. I've worn it to work a few times and a wedding but haven't worn it more than a dozen times, still plenty of life left in this one.
I did have it altered, but just slightly, bringing in the waist a touch and sleeves up a bit. Non-functioning cuffs. Pants are hemmed with a 1.75 in cuff and 29 in inseam.
