Grimes", 60 pages, 5½x9. Four signers in all. Showbill for the Broadway production of Neil
Simon's California Suite at New York's Eugene O'Neill Theatre. Playwright Neil Simon's California Suite , which enjoyed a Broadway fun of over a year (June 1976 - July 1977), was
made into a feature film in 1978. The play was unique in that characters played multiple parts.
Only Tammy Grimes was an original cast member, with the other actors joining later: David
McCallum replaced George Grizzard; Marge Redmond replaced Barbara Barrie; Vincent
Gardnia replaced Jack Weston. Scottish-born actor DAVID McCALLUM ( 1933-2023 ) is
probably best known for playing master spy Illya Kuryakin of the TV series, The Man
from U.N.C.L.E. , and as Medical Examiner Donald "Ducky" Mallard on NCIS . During
the '70s and '80s VINCENT GARDENIA ( 1920-1992 ) was one of the most familiar
character actors in film, television and on the Broadway stage. His film career began to pick up
when he was in his mid-thirties and played his first major role in The Cop Hater (1958).
Some of his best-known roles include that of a bartender in 1961 in The Hustler , and Dutch
Schnell in Bang the Drum Slowly (1973) opposite Robert De Niro. The latter garnered
Gardenia his first Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor. Gardenia's second
nomination came in 1987 for his memorable portrayal of Cher 's father in Moonstruck .
TAMMY GRIMES (1934-2016) made her off-Broadway debut in The Littlest Revue (1959), developing a flamboyant, kooky on-stage persona. Her 12 Broadway appearances
include two Tony Award-winning performances, as Molly Tobin in The Unsinkable
Molly Brown (1960-1962, 532 performances) and as Amanda Prynne in Private Lives
(1970). She also has over 50 movies and TV shows to her credit, including the 3-season
sitcom The Tammy Grimes Show . MARGE REDMOND (b. 1930) , a New York stage
veteran, may be best remembered for her Emmy-nominated role as Sister Jacqueline in The
Flying Nun (1967-1970), and for her savvy innkeeper, "Sarah Tucker," on TV Cool Whip
commercials of the 1970s. She was married for a time to Jack Weston, replaced by Gardenia
in the California Suite cast. Lightly toned at edges. Otherwise, fine condition. See more material from these signers: See more listings in our category.
