This 3 piece suit, 4 with the belt, was among my mother’s things brought to me by my brother. I hadn’t noticed it in its bag, really. There were so many things, clothing, jewelry, bags and shoes. This, now that I have discovered it, is a surprise. It is so beautifully made in every respect. Every button, button loop, seam is an opportunity to give it just a bit more detail and quality. The materials are superb. The blouse with its removable tie is genuinely like silk but wrinkle proof and machine washable. I’d treat it better with hand wash and hanger dry. The jacket and skirt are dry clean or hand washable. The skirt’s waistband is a first in vintage waistbands for me. It is made so that you can easily replace or adjust the elastic. Most of these are tedious to address. The elastic is usually shot and sewn in. Please look at the photo. And it is a size 18. Vintage 18. I would say one should start at a 12 and go up but it could be worn by a smaller person. Vintage sizes are tiny. Leslie Fay was the company that offered Castleberry Knits. He said that his customers refused to accept his sizing. They would stop buying if the clothing were honestly sized! So, this is not today’s 18. But then, if you have found this listing, you know, and know to compare measurements to a similar garment that fits you as you like. I don’t think this was ever worn. My mother loved the color and had an angel skin coral ring that would have matched it perfectly. I have that ring. Measurements are tricky but here they are. Ask any questions, please. Really, this is a vintage treasure.
