This cover was illustrated by Ann McCarthy, an artist who designed 22 cartoons and 6 covers for the New Yorker during her career. McCarthy also designed record jacket covers and book jacket covers, teaching at the Parsons School of Design in her spare time. In this particular cover, McCarthy depicts a male paper doll with accessories including several pigeons.
