NORMA KAMALI Vintage Red Wool Suit with Black Soutache and Braid Trim SZ

Norma Kamali is an iconic designer now marking fifty-five years in the business. She has remained relevant in the fashion industry by innovating designs that have impacted fashion globally such as Sweats as ready-to-wear which inspired casual dressing as a global lifestyle. It's been quite a while since I've seem a great vintage garment from Norma Kamali, but it was worth the wait! This exquisite 1980s red suit is 100% wool bedecked with black soutache and braid trimming the collar, lapels, pocket flaps, and cuffs. It's hard to see in the photos, but the fabric is woven with a window pane pattern and twill stripes. The shawl collar is padded and gathered at the back of the neck, creating a flattering, face-framing shape. The jacket also has substantial shoulder pads. The pencil skirt has a back zipper and an offset walking vent. Both pieces are lined in red rayon, and both pieces are labeled Italian size 40 which is considered equivalent to a US size 4.
