Hermès by Martin Margiela: Collarless Open Front Blazer / Jacket Fall Winter 2001 Collection 100% Polyvester with 100% Silk Pockets Made in France Size 36 FR (relaxed fit) Martin Margiela brought an effortless, quiet air of luxury dressing to Hermès during his tenure as the creative director of its women's collections. He designed for real woman, and his clean lines and comfortable wardrobe staples remain heavily desired to this day. Simply put, Margiela created Hermès clothing that will never go out of style and are crafted to stand the test of time. This is truly the original Collarless Jacket design that's now copied by modern, quiet luxury brands such as The Row. Rare chance to own the original. This collarless jacket is the epitome of his Hermès design thesis. The jacket is made of out a very thoughtful polyester that's the same material sewn together back-to-back on the outside and inside. Margiela was experimenting with finding new luxury materials, and this polyester is incredibly thoughtful. It is texturized through slight wales (lines in the fabric) and has a very good weight to keep it on the body. The jacket has no lapels and no closure –although it can be secured with a belt or tied with a thin scarf or piece of fabric. There are two "ghost pockets" at the side that are very discretely sewn into the pattern –it's almost like that aren't there. To top it off, this jacket has the signature, six-point "H" buttons at the wrist. The wrist doesn't have functioning buttonholes. Instead there is the "memory of" a functioning buttonhole on the inside, and the wrist can be folded up. This is the most Margiela design element on the jacket. There is a spare button sewn to the inside. The color is difficult to completely discern. It's a dark grey that could also be a muted / faded black. Pairs naturally with other neutrals.
